Belgian marketplaces: where to sell as an online store in Belgium

Belgium is a small market, but you sell in two languages: Dutch in Flanders, French in Wallonia and both in Brussels. Here you find every Belgian marketplace StoreLinkr connects, the big names we do not connect, and what to arrange before you ship your first order to a Belgian customer.

Short answer

The best known marketplace for online stores in Belgium is bol, which runs one platform for the Netherlands and Belgium. There are also specialist marketplaces such as MediaMarkt (electronics), Decathlon (sports), Brico (DIY) and INNO (department store). To sell you need listings in Dutch and French, the right VAT set-up, product safety information (GPSR) and a solution for your packaging obligations.

General marketplaces bring lots of visitors, but also lots of competition. A specialist marketplace has fewer sellers per product and customers who know what they want. So choose based on your range.

What do you need to sell in Belgium?

Dutch and FrenchMandatory labelling must be in a language the average consumer understands, taking into account the language area where you sell. The same goes for manuals and warranty certificates.4 If you sell across Belgium, make sure you have Dutch and French listings.
Registered company and VAT numberFor bol you need a registration with the Belgian KBO or the Dutch KvK and a VAT number.1 Other marketplaces ask for similar company details.
VAT through the One-Stop ShopOnce your sales to consumers in other EU countries exceed €10,000 a year in total, you charge Belgian VAT. You can declare it for all countries at once through the One-Stop Shop (OSS).5
Packaging and Fost PlusUnder the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), every producer registers in the national producer register. This applies to all household packaging placed on the Belgian market. If you are a Fost Plus member, Fost Plus handles the registration for you.6
Product safety (GPSR)Your offer shows the manufacturer, a responsible person in the EU if the manufacturer is based outside it, and safety information. Without that data a marketplace must not show your offer.7
14-day right of withdrawalYour customer may cancel within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason. Return costs are only for the customer if you said so in advance.8
Shipping and customer servicePlan for Belgian shipping rates and offer customer service in your customer's language, Dutch or French. Only promise delivery times you can really meet.

New since 12 August 2026: producers from outside Belgium must be represented by an authorised representative established in Belgium for their packaging obligations.6 In December 2025 the European Commission proposed to suspend this duty for sellers to consumers in other member states, and Parliament and Council are still examining the proposal.9 If you sell from another country, check the current status before you start.

This is not tax or legal advice. If you are unsure about VAT or registrations, ask your accountant.

How to start in 6 steps

  1. Start with bolOne account lets you sell in Belgium and the Netherlands. Then add a specialist marketplace that fits your range, such as MediaMarkt, Decathlon or Brico.
  2. Prepare Dutch and French listingsTitles, descriptions, attributes and manuals in both languages. Have translations checked, especially for your best sellers.
  3. Check your VATAdd up your sales to consumers in other EU countries. If you go over €10,000 a year, register for the One-Stop Shop.
  4. Sort out your packaging obligationsJoin Fost Plus for your household packaging. If you are not based in Belgium, also appoint an authorised representative.
  5. Complete GPSR and product dataEAN, manufacturer, responsible person in the EU, warnings and manuals. If anything is missing, your offer will not go live.
  6. Connect stock and ordersLet stock, prices and orders sync automatically with your online store, so you never sell what you do not have.

Several marketplaces in Belgium at once

Every marketplace has its own portal, its own categories and its own rules. With two marketplaces you can still manage by hand. From three on, stock becomes the real risk: if you sell the same product on a marketplace and in your own store, stock has to be right in both places straight away.

StoreLinkr takes products, stock and prices from your online store (WooCommerce, Shopify or SitePack), your POS system or your wholesaler, and puts them on the marketplaces you choose. Orders come back into your store. Per marketplace you set categories, price rules and exclusions.

Frequently asked questions about marketplaces in Belgium

For online stores it is bol. One seller account reaches customers in the Netherlands and Belgium, and you only pay commission on what you sell. MediaMarkt, Decathlon and Brico are strong specialist marketplaces.

Mandatory product information must be understandable for the customer and take into account the language area where you sell. So if you want to sell across Belgium, you need Dutch and French listings. That also goes for manuals and warranty certificates.

Up to €10,000 a year in total sales to consumers in other EU countries, you can usually charge the VAT of your own country. Above that you charge Belgian VAT, which you can declare through the One-Stop Shop (OSS).

Fost Plus is the organisation for household packaging in Belgium. Under the PPWR every producer registers in the national producer register, and Fost Plus handles that for its members. If you are based outside Belgium, since 12 August 2026 you also need an authorised representative in Belgium, although the European Commission has proposed to suspend that duty.

Amazon is in beta, on request. We do not connect Zalando at the moment. You can connect 14 Belgian marketplaces, including bol, eBay, MediaMarkt, Decathlon and Brico.
