In Italy you can start with a marketplace you may already know, such as Kaufland or MediaMarkt, and add Italian names such as ePRICE and IBS.it. Here you find every Italian marketplace StoreLinkr connects, the big names we do not connect, and how to get your packaging right for Italy.

Short answer

Well known marketplaces in Italy are Amazon.it, Kaufland.it, MediaMarkt and ePRICE, plus specialist marketplaces such as Leroy Merlin (DIY), Douglas (beauty) and IBS.it (books). The largest marketplaces in Italy explained

Not every marketplace is open to every seller, and we do not connect every marketplace. Here is what you need to know about each one.

Kaufland.it

Kaufland.it

Connectable General

A broad marketplace for almost every category. You pay a basic fee from €39.95 per month, excluding VAT, for all Kaufland marketplaces together, plus a commission of 7 to 16 percent per sale. For Italy Kaufland offers an EPR service at €1.90 per month per product category.1 Automatically translated descriptions are not allowed.2

MediaMarkt

MediaMarkt

Connectable Electronics

The marketplace of the electronics chain, which we also connect for the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Portugal, among others. If you sell electrical equipment in Italy, you also register in the Italian register for electrical equipment.3

ePRICE

ePRICE

Connectable Electronics and appliances

An Italian online store for electronics and household appliances with its own marketplace. We connect ePRICE for Italy only.

Leroy Merlin

Leroy Merlin

Connectable DIY, home and garden

The marketplace of the DIY chain, which we also connect for France, Spain, Portugal and Poland. A logical step if you sell DIY or garden products.

Amazon.it

Beta, on request General

The best known general marketplace in Italy. Our Amazon integration is in beta and available on request only. Get in touch if you want to join and we will check together whether your range is a good fit.

Zalando

Not connected by StoreLinkr Fashion

For Italy, Zalando asks for proof of your packaging (EPR) registration, a material code on the packaging and disposal instructions on consumer packaging. On top of that a 13-digit EAN per item and, if you ship yourself, free returns within 30 days.5 StoreLinkr does not connect Zalando. For fashion in Italy you can connect Kiabi.

Marketplaces in Italy by category

General marketplaces bring lots of visitors, but also lots of competition. A specialist marketplace has fewer sellers per product and customers who know what they want. So choose based on your range.

What do you need to sell in Italy?

Listings in proper ItalianTitles, descriptions and customer service in Italian. Kaufland does not allow automatically translated descriptions.2
CONAI registrationIf you place packaging on the Italian market, you register with the packaging consortium CONAI and pay the environmental contribution. This also applies to foreign sellers. According to Kaufland, sellers without an office in Italy have their registrations handled by an authorised representative.3
Environmental label on packagingAll packaging placed on the Italian market needs an environmental label.4 It shows the material code, how the customer should sort it for collection and consumer information. For small packaging this may also be done digitally, for example with a QR code.3
Electronics and batteriesIf you sell electrical equipment, you register in the Italian register for electrical equipment (Registro AEE). For batteries there is the Registro PILE.3
VAT through the One-Stop ShopOnce your sales to consumers in other EU countries exceed €10,000 a year in total, you charge Italian VAT and can declare it through the One-Stop Shop (OSS).6 Livigno and Campione d'Italia are outside the EU VAT area.7
Product safety (GPSR)Your offer shows the manufacturer, a responsible person in the EU if the manufacturer is based outside it, and safety information. Without that data a marketplace must not show your offer.8
14-day right of withdrawalYour customer may cancel within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason. Return costs are only for the customer if you said so in advance.9
Take-back and returnsKaufland asks you to state in your terms how customers can hand in old products: on delivery, at a collection point or by free return shipping.3 Also give a return address your Italian customer understands.

Note on your labels: the current Italian environmental labelling may be used until 11 August 2028. After that a harmonised EU system with pictograms takes over.4 Keep this in mind when you order new packaging.

This is not tax or legal advice. If you are unsure about VAT or registrations, ask your accountant.

How to start in 6 steps

  1. Pick 1 or 2 marketplacesStart with Kaufland.it and one specialist marketplace that fits your range, such as MediaMarkt, Leroy Merlin or Douglas.
  2. Arrange CONAI and your labelsRegister with CONAI, through a representative if you have no office in Italy, and check that your packaging carries an environmental label.
  3. Check your VATAdd up your sales to consumers in other EU countries. If you go over €10,000 a year, register for the One-Stop Shop.
  4. Translate your product dataTitles, descriptions and attributes in proper Italian, with an EAN for every product. Have translations checked, especially for your best sellers.
  5. Complete GPSR dataManufacturer, responsible person in the EU, warnings and manuals. If anything is missing, your offer will not go live.
  6. Connect stock and ordersLet stock, prices and orders sync automatically with your online store, so you never sell what you do not have.

Several marketplaces in Italy at once

Every marketplace has its own portal, its own categories and its own rules. With two marketplaces you can still manage by hand. From three on, stock becomes the real risk: if you sell the same product on a marketplace and in your own store, stock has to be right in both places straight away.

StoreLinkr takes products, stock and prices from your online store (WooCommerce, Shopify or SitePack), your POS system or your wholesaler, and puts them on the marketplaces you choose. Orders come back into your store. Per marketplace you set categories, price rules and exclusions.

Fixed monthly price from €69 for up to 75 orders a month, unlimited products and no percentage of your revenue. Above your bundle you pay a small fee per extra order.

Frequently asked questions about marketplaces in Italy

Amazon.it, Kaufland.it, MediaMarkt and ePRICE. If you already sell on Kaufland in another country, Kaufland.it is an easy next step: you pay one basic fee for all Kaufland marketplaces.

Up to €10,000 a year in sales to consumers in other EU countries, you can usually charge the VAT of your own country. Above that you charge Italian VAT, which you can declare through the One-Stop Shop (OSS).

CONAI is the Italian packaging consortium. If you place packaging on the Italian market, also as a foreign seller, you register there and pay the environmental contribution.

An environmental label with the material code and instructions for separate collection. This applies to all packaging placed on the Italian market, so your shipping box too.

We do not connect Zalando. Amazon is in beta, on request. You can connect 13 Italian marketplaces, including Kaufland, MediaMarkt, ePRICE, Leroy Merlin and Douglas.

That depends on the marketplace. Kaufland does not allow automatically translated descriptions. In any case, have your best sellers checked by someone who speaks Italian well.
